Mr. Frank Anthony

Mr. Frank Anthony

Mr. Frank Anthony was born on 25th September, 1908 in Jabalpur. He received his education from Nagpur University and was the topper in English. He went on to study law in London where he was called to the Bar. Being an Anglo-Indian, Frank Anthony defended the rights of the Anglo-Indian community in India.

He was elected President-in-Chief of the All-India Anglo-Indian Association and Chairman of the Inter-state Board of Anglo-Indian Education. This visionary foresaw that the future of his community lay in education. With this in mind he established the All-India Anglo-Indian Educational Institution and served as its Chairman. Presently this institution runs The Frank Anthony Public Schools in New Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore.

Frank Anthony was the Chairman of the Indian School Certificate Examination. He passed away in 1993 and will always be remembered as an iconic figure, especially by the Anglo-Indian Community and society at large.

The Four Houses

The House system is a feature common to public schools in India (based on an equivalent system in England). FAPS has four houses, named after eminent members of the Anglo-Indian community and benefactors of the school.

The four houses are Corbett (blue), D’mello (yellow), Gidney (green) and Rodrigues (red). The house mottos are ‘Deeds not Words’, ‘To Greater Heights’, ‘The Impossible is Possible’ and ‘Strive and Attain’ respectively.

Each house is led by two House Captains (a boy and a girl), two Vice-Captains (a boy and a girl), and a body of prefects, selected from among the students of Class 12.

The four houses compete against each other in a number of inter-house activities, including sports (such as cricket, basketball, football, volleyball, and throwball), athletics, quizzes, debates, elocution, and music competitions.
